3. 08. 2015

Bright Green Beginnings

Intense research work done on the plastic waste sector following the 3rd June flood disaster in Accra Ghana that claimed over 150 lives including the life of a dear friend. The research was the beginning of a work and findings that will lead to the set up of Coliba.
2016 - 2017

The Golden Years

Testing and piloting ideas around plastic recycling. Formalized and registered Coliba Recycling company to operate in Ghana in 2017. Started operations in five districts in Accra from 2017.
2017-Present

International Recognition

Recognized by Samsung Engineering and Tunza Eco-generation in Korea as one of the top three Eco- enterprises in 2017 that is addressing plastic pollution through a sustainable model. Winner of the 2018 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Award and named top 10 innovative businesses at TEDx Accra event in 2017.
2018- Present

Waste Management Today

Operates over 40 recycling hubs in Accra alone with plans to roll out its franchise model with partners across other regions of Ghana in 2019. deploys Coliba 2.0 mobile and web application that allows users and customers have access to recycling services at their finger tips. Currently serves over 8000 homes, 82 institutions and created jobs for over 108 wage contract workers. It has a target to reach 2 million users by 2025 through the launch of Coliba 2.0
Coliba remains consistent in the delivery of their mission and they continue to make impact despite the challenges of operating in a sector that is begging for societal support. Coliba certainly is contributing to protecting the environment one plastic at a time.
